Donal Hunt & Greg Furber

Dog Sled Expedition

Target and beyond....

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who was donated, sponsored, attended events and helped us reach our target. A number of events from non uniform days and a successful concert with Mundy, James OR and Pete Courtney have taken place.
Sinéad's hard work is done and Donal's is about to begin

Getting there ...

so been a while since we have updated the blog. We have been busy with some events in the background, hosting a house gig and organising some others.
We're having a local coffee morning with some great raffle prizes on 16th Oct in our local community centre. And on 27th November the wonderful Mundy is coming to Cork to play a gig for us. Thanks as always for everyone's support.

Some events

So we have some fundraising events happening in next few weeks.
A lovely summer BBQ, including a raffle, will be held this weekend, Sunday 11th September in Jesters Pub, Midleton.
In October we will be hosting a house gig featuring Mark Geary, Pete Courtney and Rebecca McDermott, and on 16th October there will be a coffee morning in our local community centre. Hope to see some of you there.

33% there

Thank you to all our generous supporters so far. It is really appreciated.
Everyone who sponsors before the 31st October will be entered into a draw for 2 tickets to Glen Hansard's sold out show in the National Concert Hall, Dublin on 3rd December 2022 along with an overnight stay, including breakfast, in the lovely Ashling Hotel, near the Phoenix Park.
We have some exciting events in the pipeline, and will share more when finalised.

Why you might ask…

Thank you for supporting me on my AADI Sled Dog Expedition. I'm delighted to be taking part in this fundraiser to help raise vital funds for AADI. Let us tell you about our story…

In July 2021 the AADI reopened the waiting list and allocated 30 Autism Assistance Dogs to 30 families. We were one of the lucky ones and we have been able to secure a dog for our son.
He is an incredible 7 year old, who loves art, swimming, kayaking and more recently sailing. He is fun, happy and super smart. However, our kid is a flight risk, and lacks a sense of danger.

The primary role of an assistance dog is to prevent a child from running into danger when they are outside the house.

For every family like ours who were successful in getting an assistance dog, there were 6 disappointed families, who were not so lucky. It costs €22,000 and takes 2 years to train and place an assistance dog. They do not charge families for these life changing dogs. The charity is entirely supported by fundraising and donations. Please donate what you can and support us and this wonderful charity.

Thank you! 🙏

The challenge itself

A once-in-a-lifetime experience and the ultimate test of your endurance. Donal will experience daily life in Lapland as he tends to a team of dogs and watch the Northern Lights (if he's lucky!). The expedition will cover approximately 270km as he journeys from Norway to Sweden passing through wild and untouched nature.
Your support will open up a whole new world of opportunity for an autistic child.
