Bring School Support Dogs to More Irish Schools

AADI is calling for a dedicated Government-funded School Support Dog Scheme as part of Budget 2027.

Some children arrive at school already overwhelmed. Some struggle with transitions, anxiety, emotional regulation or simply getting through the school gates.

School Support Dogs are helping create calmer mornings, smoother transitions and better access to the school day for children who need that support.

Join parents, teachers, SNAs, school communities and supporters across Ireland backing School Support Dogs for Irish schools.

AADI is calling on Government to introduce a dedicated School Support Dog Grant Scheme through Budget 2027, helping more schools access structured wellbeing and regulation supports for students.

By adding your name and county, you are helping us show decision-makers that support for this programme exists right across Ireland, in local communities, schools and constituencies.

Your support strengthens our ability to engage local TDs and demonstrate clear public demand for practical, evidence-based supports that help children feel calmer, safer and more able to access learning.

This proposal would begin with a modest phased rollout supporting:

• 6 mainstream schools
• 2 special schools
• ongoing training and welfare support
• structured implementation and evaluation
