A group of 14 former classmates from Clongowes Wood College (Class of 2007) recently took on the Stockholm Marathon in memory of their dear friends, Owen Lochrin and Jack Lidholm, who sadly passed away last year.
Jack’s favourite charity was Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland (AADI), and his family asked that the group focus part of their efforts on supporting our mission. Together, they raised an incredible €34,315, with the donations being split evenly between AADI and Cancer Trials Ireland.
Why a marathon? With a bunch of keen runners in the group and Jack’s Swedish heritage, Stockholm felt like the perfect choice.
When asked about the most memorable part of the day, they shared:
We sat around like we were back in school, reminiscing and sharing our memories of the great times we had with Owen & Jack.
The overwhelming support from their community was a beautiful tribute to their friends and their families.
We are so grateful for this heartfelt and powerful gesture. Because of efforts like this, more children and families will experience the safety, freedom, and companionship that an assistance dog brings, and vital cancer research will continue to advance.
Thank you to each and every runner, donor, and supporter — you’re helping us change lives, one step at a time.
