Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland (AADI) has been a registered Irish charity since 2010, supporting autistic children and their families across Ireland. Families never pay for an assistance dog, and every puppy is carefully bred, raised, trained and matched with the child and family who need them most.
When you sponsor a puppy, you become part of that journey. Your monthly support helps provide expert training, veterinary care, equipment and ongoing support, giving each puppy the best chance of growing into an autism assistance dog that brings greater safety, confidence and independence to a child and their family.

Frequent Asked Questions (FAQ)
What does my sponsorship help pay for?
Your monthly sponsorship helps fund every stage of an AADI puppy’s journey, including specialist training, veterinary care, food, equipment, puppy classes and ongoing support.
It takes €25,000 to breed, raise and train one autism assistance dog, and your support helps make that possible.
Will I receive updates?
Yes!
You’ll receive regular updates throughout the year, including photos and stories showing how your sponsored puppy is growing and progressing through training.
You’ll also receive a welcome pack with your sponsorship certificate, AADI pin and sponsor magnet.
Will I be the puppy’s only sponsor?
No.
Each puppy may have several sponsors helping to cover the cost of training and care. Together, your monthly gifts make it possible for more puppies to become autism assistance dogs for children across Ireland.
Can I visit my sponsored puppy?
To give every puppy the best start and keep their training consistent, we don’t offer individual visits.
We’ll share plenty of updates, photos and videos along the way, and there may be opportunities to meet AADI dogs at selected events throughout the year.
What happens when my puppy is matched with a family?
That’s the moment everyone has been working towards.
Once your puppy is matched with an autistic child, we’ll let you know and introduce you to another puppy beginning their own journey, so your sponsorship continues to help another future assistance dog.
Can I sponsor a puppy as a gift?
Absolutely.
A puppy sponsorship makes a thoughtful gift for any dog lover. The recipient will receive the welcome pack and regular puppy updates throughout the year.
Can I cancel my sponsorship?
Yes.
You can cancel or change your monthly sponsorship at any time by contacting our fundraising team (fundraising@aadi.ie)
What if my sponsored puppy doesn’t become an assistance dog?
Not every puppy follows the same path. Some dogs may become school support dogs, breeding dogs, or be withdrawn from the programme if that’s what’s best for their wellbeing.
Whatever path they take, your sponsorship has helped give that dog the very best start while allowing another puppy to continue the journey towards becoming an autism assistance dog.
