Questions about registering

Where can I sign up to get my beanie hat?

add remove

Is there a sponsorship card in the fundraising pack?

add remove
Yes there is! You can use this card to ask for support in person from your friends, family and colleagues. If you’re worried about asking for sponsorship online you can always ask people to share your fundraising page (instead of asking them to donate) to help raise awareness for AADI. Please remember it is illegal to solicit members of the public, in a public space, or by going door-to-door for funds unless you have our permission AND a permit from An Garda Siochana. The sponsorship card is for use when collecting sponsorship funds from friends, family and colleagues, it does not give you permission to solicit members of the public for sponsorship.

I'm part of a team, how do we register?

add remove

Great! Firstly, nominate a team captain and they can then register the team for all of you.  The team captain can register the team here

Your teammates can search for the team by name and join the team when registering.

Alternatively, once the team is registered, the team captain will receive an email with a link to share with all remaining teammates. This link is an invitation for everyone else to join the team by registering and setting up your individual fundraising page. All of these pages will be linked to the overall team page.

When will I get the fundraising pack?

add remove

All fundraising packs will be sent out on the 26th of December, those who register after this date will receive their fundraising packs during the first week of January.

Make sure you sign up by the 26th to get it in time by visiting the registration form: 80K in January Registration

Please allow up to 9 working days to receive it. If you haven’t received it by then, please contact fundraising@aadi.ie and we’ll follow it up for you.

My family/child/friend wants to do the challenge with me, can you send me extra beanie hats?

add remove

Fantastic!

Why not register as a team?  Select a team captain to register the team and get everyone else to register individually and join the team. Every team member will receive a Team AADI beanie hat in their registration pack.

To register a team, you can set one up during your own registration process. Get started below:

Alternatively you can do the following:

Register once with the button above and then email Ivan at ivan@aadi.ie to receive additional beanies and sponsorship cards for your friends/family taking part too. This is recommended if not everyone in the team is tech savvy!

Questions about the Challenge

What's the 80K in January challenge?

add remove

The 80K in January challenge for Autism Assistance Dogs is asking our supporters to commit to walking or running 80 kilometres over the 31 days in the month of January.

Each participant will commit to fundraising for us during this period to raise vitally needed funds to train our assistance dogs for children with autism. Each trained assistance dog provides a lifeline for these children and their families.

When is the challenge taking place?

add remove

80K in January 2024 takes place from the 1st January to the 31st January 2024.

What happens if I don't complete the challenge?

add remove

That’s no problem, we understand that life gets busy and things happen. You can just lodge whatever sponsorship you have raised with us at the end of the month or if you still want to  complete the challenge, you can do this in the following weeks.

Can I start late/early?

add remove

Yes, certainly. Our social media pages will be active for the month of December & January so if you start a bit late or early you can still stay up to date and get the support and encouragement you need to complete the challenge.

Just remember to keep your supporters updated on your fundraising page and let them know how you are getting on. The majority of participants will be starting on 1st January but we understand that life can be busy and things happen, so feel free to start whenever suits you best!

Can I do another exercise to achieve the 80 kilometre target?

add remove

Yes, of course. We are promoting this challenge as a walking one but if you would like to jog, swim, run or cycle it instead that’s absolutely no problem. Just be sure and post your progress and updates on your fundraising page so everyone can cheer you on and we can see how you're doing too!

Do I have to do the 80 kilometres at once?

add remove

No, the great thing about this challenge is that you can spread this challenge throughout the month of January! If you need longer, that’s no problem, do it at a pace that suits you.

How do I keep track of my progress?

add remove

The best way is to use your smart phone! If you have an iPhone or Samsung there will be a preinstalled ‘Health’ App that tracks your daily steps and distance walked. Other apps you can use are: Strava, Runkeeper, Map My Walk. We will send you a paper progress tracker too so you can tot up your daily kilometres!

Do I have to prove that I did the challenge?

add remove

Post pictures and updates on your fundraising page with your daily or weekly miles so we can see you’ve completed the challenge. It is also a great way to show your friends and family who have sponsored you that you’re committed!

Can I do more than the 80 kilometre target?

add remove

Of course. Setting a goal of 80 kilometres and exceeding that goal would be fantastic! Many people will walk more than 80 kilometres.

What if I don't raise much money?

add remove

We have no minimum or maximum amount that we would like our participants to raise. From our point of view, no matter how much money you raise it will go towards changing the world for a child with autism.

A little about us....

Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland is a national charity who provides Assistance Dogs to children with autism.

Established in 2010 and accredited to the highest standards by Assistance Dogs International, AADI’s mission is to change the world for children with autism by offering children suffering with debilitating symptoms of autism the opportunity to reach their full potential.

As well as providing life changing Autism Assistance Dogs, we are committed to raising autism awareness, understanding and inclusion within the community.

We do not charge for our assistance dogs and are entirely supported by public donations, fundraising and volunteers.
